Students, faculty, and administration recently returned from OMED ’19. OMED is an annual conference known as the world’s largest gathering of osteopathic physicians. This year’s conference was held in Baltimore, Maryland.

ARCOM uses simulation labs to immerse students in real scenarios, ensure patient safety
Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine students must perform progressive simulation, or SIM, labs to evaluate student learning. Dr. Harvey Potts, ARCOM executive director of simulation and clinical skills, said first year students do basic labs on different systems of the body, such as treat a small bowel obstruction, and learn to read vital signs.

Fort Smith just got a brand new batch of soon-to-be doctors. The Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine welcomed its third class of students this week. The students will study in the area four years before beginning their residencies.
CHI, ARCOM partner on new med residency program
CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs and the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Smith have partnered on a new medical education residency program. Twenty-one medical students from ARCOM will become the hospital’s first Graduate Medical Education residents in a new program to train the future physicians of southwest Arkansas, a news release said.
