Anatomy Lab

The Anatomy Laboratory is located on the west side of the second floor of the ARCOM building.  It is over 3,500 square feet in size and has several large windows, providing natural sunlight to the learning environment.  Inside the ARCOM Anatomy Laboratory are 21 downdraft donor tables that draw the formalin vapors away from students.  The Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system provides optimal ventilation by turning over the air in the anatomy lab more than 17 times each hour, while the amount of air moved at each downdraft table is over 500 cubic feet per minute (CFM).  Other resources in the ARCOM Anatomy Laboratory include a stationary camera and a mobile camera that are interfaced with 22, 42-inch monitors positioned throughout the anatomy lab, providing all students with an up close view to live anatomy faculty instructions, demonstrations and reviews.  The instructor lectern is also equipped with Internet access to study online anatomical resources (e.g., medical images and videos), and a document camera to demonstrate salient features of small organs (eg., brains, hearts, and lungs), bones and anatomical models.  During laboratory sessions, students will have access to five anatomy instructors.  Adjacent to the anatomy lab is a preparation room equipped with a service elevator for donor transport, chemical storage room, laundry and a Mortech walk in refrigeration system for the storage of 36 donors.
